Stanley Robinson Clarke appeared in Fremantle Magistrates Court last Tuesday and admitted to kicking the female chihuahua so hard it flew across the room and into a bedroom door.
The small dog was rushed to the vet with skull fractures and traumatic brain damage consistent with head trauma.
She was later euthanised as her condition deteriorated.
Chief Inspector Amanda Swift said the decision sent a clear message to the public.
‘This level of wanton cruelty is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the RSPCA or the WA community, as recognised by this large fine,’ she said.
‘Where there is evidence to suggest an offence, the RSPCA will act as the community rely on us to do, and do everything in our power to make sure we get justice for the animal concerned, but we need the community to continue to report these crimes.’
