“This year it’s his wife Margot’s turn to make the journey climbing alongside me.”

Ms Carson said the walk was an opportunity to get the community talking about prostate cancer.

“Throughout my seven years at the Water Corporation I have worked with many men, mainly in their 40s to 60s, that would never bring up the topic of prostate cancer,” she said.

“I see my climb as a great opportunity to encourage this conversation.”

Ms Carson will begin preparation for the gruelling adventure with extra walks around Beeliar with her pet, Buddy.

She will step that up, as well as her fundraising efforts, over the coming months.

Money gathered will go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and to the Prostate Cancer Specialist Nursing Program.

“One man dies every three hours from prostate cancer in Australia,” Ms Carson said.

“I want to be another voice out there reminding men to make sure they get a prostate check.”
