Climbing for kids with cancer

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

The Benny’s Bar and Cafe owner said he met Telethon Adventurer founder Rick Parish at the Fremantle Coffee Festival and said he was inspired by their work and wanted to join the fight against childhood cancer.

Mr Dzeba and the Adventurers will head to Chamonix to climb the 4100m mountain, raising awareness and much-needed funds for Telethon.

‘I am committed to reaching the summit… and I have been training just about every day trying to get as fit as possible,’ he said.

‘Climbing a mountain is not only physically but also mentally demanding, but when you learn what kids have to go through and see them battling this disease, I don’t think there are many things that can stop me from getting to the summit.

‘Standing atop 4100m will not only be a personal accomplishment but I will also be climbing in memory of all the children fighting their battle against cancer.’

There will be a fundraising sundowner at Benny’s Bar and Bistro to raise money for the Telethon Adventurers on June 21.

Tickets are $50 and include drinks and finger food and an auction and raffle will be held during the evening.
