NED Marshall and almost a dozen of his CBC Fremantle schoolmates put down their textbooks on Friday afternoon for a cause close to his heart.
Having watched both his father and a close family friend battle blood cancer, the Year 12 students rallied the troops at his school and got a group of Year 10, 11 and 12 students, as well as a couple of teachers, to lose their hair in a World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser.
“I felt compelled in a way to be part of positive change that could help them and other people who will be diagnosed in the future,” Ned said.
“I thought both the fact that involving more people would raise more money and also having a school event involving as many students as possible would be very fun and entertaining for the whole school.
“It went nearly perfectly, lots of students showed up to watch the fun, and plenty coloured their hair too.
“It was the perfect way to end the fundraising journey.”
The school event has helped Ned raise more than $5800 so far.
