The stairway, at the south end of Davilak Avenue at Manning Park in Hamilton Hill, has 192 steps, 50 landings and rest spots.

The City of Cockburn will determine if it needs an official name, but Cockburn Ladder and Manning Stairs has already been put forward on social media as a name for the stairway.

Mayor Logan Howlett said there were plans to build a new lookout at the summit of the steps after the old one was removed due to safety concerns.
