Coffee cups on conservation campaign list

The City has pledged to take part in the annual event and is now asking others to take up the challenge.

The event aims to raise awareness of the amount of plastic we use.

Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said taking part in Plastic Free July did not mean eliminating all plastic ” just minimising the amount people used.

‘A small initiative in your business can go a long way,’ Mr Howlett said.

‘It can simply be eliminating the use of single-use disposables such as coffee cups, going back to using washable ceramic cups as a starter and trying to find alternative uses; or minimise the use of disposables such as of plastic bags, straws and water bottles.’
