THE competition to be crowned WA steak sandwich royalty is heating up as Fremantle eateries look to keep the crown portside.
Reigning champions The Harbour Master have thrown their hat into the ring yet again, while Coast Port Beach, South Beach Tacos and the Left Bank have all submitted entries to try to secure the title.
The Left Bank marketing and events manager Julia Maloney said it had been a few years since they last entered a competition, but that they were back with a new recipe that was already proving a favourite among diners.
“Sure, The Harbour Master might hold the title now, but we’d love to see the crown sail up-river to land on the shores of the Left Bank,” she said.
“We’ve come up with a new twist on the steak sandwich to give it a fresh, perky edge, using pickled onion and cucumber salad – it really complements the succulent barbecued sirloin and juicy bacon flavours and the combination is lifted to a new level by the Monterey Jack and truffle aioli, topped-off with the crunch of spanking fresh kale.
“This is one steak sandwich you seriously need to try and if you don’t try it, you can’t vote, so don’t miss out.”
Voting for the Australian Hotels Association WA Best Steak Sandwich competition ends on April 17.
