City of Fremantle deferred decision over North Fremantle McCabe Street development

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

At Wednesday’s meeting, councillor Doug Thompson put forward two recommendations, the first being that a decision about the height of developments around McCabe Street should be deferred until the December planning services committee meeting.

Cr Thompson said he wanted the deferral to allow more consultation with the affected community and give the City a chance to consider amendments to the development that would be ‘more compatible with the character of North Fremantle’.

Council passed this recommendation, alongside another which asked officers to investigate existing and potential future traffic issues in the area surrounding the proposed development region.

Cr Thompson said there was support for the deferral from the public gallery, which included a number of North Fremantle and Mosman Park supporters, as well as the landowners of the development area.
