Senior cricketers from both schools came together for the 20-over fundraiser match, with Emmanuel students and staff using the game to raise more than $1000 for the McGrath Foundation through a sausage sizzle, complete with pink buns, and cupcake stalls.

Following the toss, the Emmanuel team batted first, making 87 runs.

The home team played hard to defend the low total, but CBC Fremantle managed to chase it down in the 16th over.

Emmanuel Catholic College physical education teacher Ryan Henley said players from both teams enjoyed the game so much that they were looking at doing it again.

“We thought it would be a great opportunity to raise awareness as we have two staff members that have had breast cancer in the past 18 months,” he said.

“At some point there were over 150 spectators getting behind their school and to raise well over $1000 for a great cause is a fantastic result.”
