Cricket: WA falls to Queensland by 269 runs

The host state fell 269 runs short of the win, failing to reach 150 in both innings with the bat.

WA’s decision to bowl first looked the right one after they reduced the visitors to 6-100.

But 48 runs from 69 deliveries from wicketkeeper Tom Healy helped take Queensland to 241.

In reply, Cameron Bancroft        and Jake Carder shared in an opening partnership worth 57.

Bancroft was removed for 16 but Carder went on to be the shining light of WA’s innings by scoring 50 from 77 deliveries.

WA was eventually bowled out for 135, with just one other batsman reaching 20.

Charlie Hemphrey scored 97 from 206 deliveries in Queensland’s second innings of 270 to ensure the visitors had plenty of runs to defend.

Set 377 for victory, WA wilted to be bowled out for 107.
