CRIME in Coolbellup is down 12 per cent on this time last year.
Speaking at a community crime forum in the suburb last Thursday night, Murdoch police station Senior Sergeant Glenn Swannell said that equated to 70 fewer offences.
“There is a perception that crime is out of control,” he said. “That’s just not true.”
Meanwhile, the need for more youth-based initiatives was also flagged.
A number of residents highlighted anti-social behaviour from local youngsters as their number one concern.
About 40 people attended the meeting, with information from CoSafe, the Department of Housing, police and Willagee MLA Peter Tinley.
