Cuts prompt safety fears

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

Fremantle MHR Melissa Parke said the Federal Government had cut a $244,000 grant to the City of Fremantle to install 24 CCTV cameras in a number of locations around the city.

Ms Parke said the cuts could put Fremantle residents and visitors in danger by decreasing the amount of funding available to community safety projects.

‘These projects were fully funded in the 2013/14 Budget and were selected by the Attorney General’s Department, which considered hundreds of applications from councils and non-government organisations across the country,’ she said.
