MONDAY night will be party night at the Newport Hotel when it hosts a dance night specifically for people with a disability.
Run by Hamilton Hill based Kelete Theatre and Performing Arts Company, the Dance Ability Dance Night invites locals with a disability, their carers and volunteers to enjoy the party, complete with DJ, dance floor, food and drink and an authentic disco feel.
Kelete’s Kelly Buckle said she had wanted to run an event like this for a long time and believed it was the first of its kind in WA.
“Inclusion is everything,” she said.
“I believe everyone deserves the right to experience life in every form where possible, and myself and (Newport owner) Terry Dowling are hoping this will be the first of many.
“There will be a great atmosphere, it’s fully staffed, safe and fun with a dance floor, quiet area, eating area and rest area.”
The Dance Ability Dance Night is on September 4 from 6pm to 10pm at the Newport Hotel.
Tickets to the over-18 event are $5 from www.trybooking. com/QITF.
