Permit holders will be required to pay an administration charge of $50 per permit for a 12-month term (financial year) or pro-rata from the 1st July each year.

Once paid the permit holder will be entitled to free parking for the year if they are a ratepayer and their motor vehicle, boat and trailer are registered to a property.

At the November council meeting Councillor Tony Natale introduced the proposal to council.

There were four options for council consider: uphold the decision from February 2016, defer introduction until the traffic management and movement strategy was finalised, reinstate the policy or undertake a cost assessment of introducing free parking for all boat trailers.

Permits are likely to be issued in February 2019 following advertising of applications.

The motion was passed five to two.
