East Fremantle makes David Nelson Freeman of the Town

FOLLOWING years of outstanding service to the area, David Nelson has been named the latest Freeman of the Town of East Fremantle.

At a ceremony at the East Fremantle Yacht Club, Mayor Jim O’Neill said Dr Nelson had dedicated his professional and personal life to community service and was a fitting recipient of the rare accolade.

Not only a local general practitioner, Dr Nelson also advocated for social health issues, founded Nelson Homes to help recovering addicts and been a mentor through alcoholics anonymous.

“Known and described as a humble and modest man, he has always strived to stay out of the limelight, yet he has been a constant supportive and giving member of the East Fremantle community for over 40 years, not only as a committed GP and church member, but as a mentor for his children and grandchildren,” Mr O’Neill said.
