Ms Fernandes, who was born in Portugal in 1915 and who has called Fremantle home for the last 48 years, celebrated the milestone last week surrounded by family and members of the Portuguese Consulate at Aegis Hilton Park.

Her large family helped her celebrate, with five children, 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and a dozen great great grandchildren keeping her company.

She celebrated with a number of cakes and delicious Portuguese food, and received letters from the Fremantle mayor, Australian Prime Minister and the Queen.
