FERAL rabbit controls will happen in several places around Fremantle.

In a letter sent to residents, the City said it would be undertaking controls at Leighton Beach dunes, North Fremantle Swan River foreshore, Bathers Beach and Arthurs Head Reserve.

“Treatment will commence with the release of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus follow by pindone baiting two weeks after virus release to target remaining rabbits,” the letter read.

“Domestic rabbits that are vaccinated are protected from this virus.”

The letter recommended all dogs be kept under control in those areas at all times and that antidotes were available from a veterinarian if needed.

The works are scheduled to be compete by December 13.
