Christensen will join well-known poets like John Kinsella, Tony Curtis, Judith Beveridge and Jeltje at the festival, which aims to promote the best in local, national and international poetry.
Christensen said it was an honour to be asked to do something she loved so much.
‘I love poetry, but I don’t think that’s because I’m weird,’ she said. ‘It makes me sad that people have been taught to fear poetry, as if it’s impossible to understand, the same way many people feel about algebra and calculus.’
The festival will be held at the Northbridge Piazza Community Centre, kicking off on August 14 at 6.30pm.
