Fostering a fair go

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

The PetRescue Workplace Pet Foster Care Program asks local businesses to foster a rescue pet on a temporary basis until they can find their forever homes.

PetRescue co-founder and Fremantle resident John Bishop said the program not only benefitted the animals, but would also have a positive impact on staff morale.

“The benefits of being around pets are well known, and research has proven they offer a myriad of physical and mental health benefits to the people who spend time with them,” he said.

“Our foster care program is a great way to develop and strengthen bonds between colleagues, to get everyone engaged in office life and also boost morale, and in addition to that bring some super stress-busting happiness into the office environment.

“At the same time, individual team members will have the opportunity to really get to know the rescue cat or dog, so ultimately this program is intended to save lives by finding new homes for rescue pets looking for that second chance at happiness.”
