Fremantle: teen charged over alleged bag snatch that injured 70-year-old

Fremantle Detectives have charged a 15-year-old boy in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in South Fremantle on Friday, December 28.

Just after 9am a 70-year-old woman was walking along Jenkins Street towards South Terrace.

The boy allegedly ran up from behind and grabbed the woman’s handbag.

During a struggle for her handbag she has fallen to the ground striking her head on the kerb.

The boy ran off and left in a red sedan.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Fiona Stanley Hospital.

She received severe bruising to the right side of her head and scratches to her hands and a broken rib.

The boy was charged with robbery with circumstances of aggravation and appeared in Perth Children’s Court December 29.

He is due to re-appear January 17, 2019 Perth Children’s Court.
