Fremantle Blood Donor Centre on hunt for Easter donors

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

Blood Service spokeswoman Jessica Willet said whole blood, platelet and plasma donations were always needed during holidays such as Easter and there were still plenty of appointments that needed filling locally to keep the vital, life-saving supply up.

“Around Easter many regular blood donors are away, which means blood supplies can dip if we don’t have enough good eggs to fill the gap,” she said.

“One blood product, platelets, lasts only for five days, so we need a constant supply.”

Ms Willet said donors were needed particularly between April 13 and 18, when Fre-|mantle’s appointments were less than half-full.

“Your lifesaving donation could help someone spend another Easter holiday with family and friends,” she said
