“We have been performing together for six or seven years after meeting at a circus festival in WA,” she said.

“We created a cabaret and we discovered that Dawn and I loved working together and that doesn’t happen often, it is really rare and special.”

The acrobat performer said Tandem was inspired by life imitating art.

“We are two women who are trying to create art together, we are fierce friends, mothers and we have been on a journey through really big parts of our lives together, we created a piece that reflects our journey,” she said.

“When you meet someone who you are close with you sometimes mirror them with gestures, political views, values or things like that, Tandem is a story about two women, sisters, who kind of support each other to be different from each other, to celebrate their differences.”

Having performed around regional Australia, Mrs Battle-Wayre said they want to provide a show that was accessible for people.

“We want to perform our work in the way in the way we want to do it, under the stars, by the ocean,” she said.

“We want to provide access for people who may not have a heap of money for tickets, or who wouldn’t take their family to the theatre.

“There are so many amazing people at the Street Arts Festival , we are not your typical busking show we put on more of an artistic show and package to a street audience.”
