CITY of Fremantle chief executive Graeme Mackenzie has announced his retirement.
Mr Mackenzie has spent 15 years with the City of Fremantle, first as the corporate services director before becoming chief executive in 2004.
He said that after 40 years in the local government sector, he intended to step down on June 30 next year.
“Serving the Fremantle community has been a challenging but highly rewarding role and I’m particularly proud to have been a part of the many innovative projects that have brought new life to Fremantle in recent years,” he said.
“I’ve met a lot of great people and had the privilege of working with some talented and committed mayors, councillors and City officers over the years.
“I will leave knowing Fremantle is on a solid and sustainable path of revitalisation and in very good hands.”
Mayor Brad Pettitt said the council hoped Mr Mackenzie’s replacement could start work next April to allow for a transition period .
