Fremantle escapee Brooks arrested in South Lake after chase through southern suburbs

POLICE have arrested a man who escaped their custody last night after a crash in South Lake this morning.

Danny Jay Brooks (38) was apprehended after police stopped him in a stolen white Toyota Camry at the intersection of Hammond Road and North Lake Road in South Lake.

He was first arrested yesterday morning, charged with aggravated armed robbery, stealing a motor vehicle and breach of bail and taken to Fremantle Police Station.

Yesterday afternoon he, along with a 29-year-old Gosnells woman who was also in custody, escaped from the Fremantle Police Station.

The woman was re-arrested on Market Street a short time later, but Mr Brooks was seen entering a Toyota Aurion parked at Fremantle Train Station, forcing the driver to drive off.

The driver was allowed to leave the car on the intersection of Stirling Highway and Canning Highway.
