SOME of the biggest names in music and media have been locked in for this year’s Fremantle Festival.

Former Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning tops the star-studded music line up, which also includes the likes of The Drones, Abbe May and Dan Sultan, while The Project’s Waleed Aly will join journalist Stan Grant and actor Clementine Ford on stage to talk about important social issues facing the world today.

It would not be a Fremantle Festival without the annual crowd favourites, with the Wardarnji Festival, Children’s Fiesta and Street Parade all set to return, while artisan bar and festival hub dubbed PegLeg2 will also pop up again at the Fremantle Town Hall.

City of Fremantle arts and culture manager Pete Stone said the event would have more than 40 experiences and events in 10 days.

“We are so excited about the evolution of this festival which is full of quality events and brand new concepts such as The State Collection which unites art and community in a truly exceptional exhibition – art of the people, by the people, for the people,” he said.

The Fremantle Festival is on October 28 to November 6.
