Fremantle: it’s a dog’s life for Truman, just one of RSPCA’s rescue dogs

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

TRUMAN is a friendly, affectionate dog who, despite being blind, loves being around other dogs, going to the beach and for walks around the park or simply sitting on the couch listening to the television.

For a dog, he has everything he could ever wish for.

But he does not have a home.

Dogs like Truman are the reason animal lover and fashion guru Natalie Burridge goes to work everyday.

Manager of the RSPCA’s newly opened Reloved store in Fremantle and the owner of two rescue cats, Ms Burridge said it was a dream to work in a place where she got to put her fashion knowledge to good use and where she knew the money would be going to help animals in need.

“I’ve always loved shopping at pre-loved clothing boutiques, and I adore fashion as well as being a real advocate for supporting charities, recycling and snaring a bargain, and I think most of our customers feel the same way,” she said.

“We’ve got amazing labels and incredible clothes at the store, everyone who comes in is pretty impressed and usually walks out with a bargain or two, and I think customers love the fact that as well as treating themselves to a new item for their wardrobe, they’re helping to support animals in need throughout the state.

“I’d say to any Fremantle locals who haven’t yet popped in to see us, please do, we would love to see you and we’re in a great spot, right next to the Many 6160 building and several op shops, so it’s a great place to do the rounds.”
