“The Maritime Industry Ball is a Leeuwin Ocean Adventure initiative,” she said.

“Leeuwin has relied on the skills and expertise of the West Australian maritime industry for over thirty years to keep the ship in excellent condition – the ball is a celebration of that partnership”

Ms Shannon said the money raised at the ball will go towards the annual refit and maintenance of STS Leeuwin II.

“This year the program goes below decks for work in the engine room,” she said.

“Leeuwin’s safety and operating standards demand that the ship is in excellent condition, something that is never compromised.”

The event is described as a very Fremantle affair.
