Leah RobertsFremantle Gazette

A DRUNK driver has been ordered to pay $1355 and had his driver’s license suspended for eight months after he reversed into a driveway in Bicton, colliding with a Mercedes and a wall before driving off.

Jason Michael Hewitt pled guilty in Fremantle Magistrates Court today to having a blood alcohol level in excess of 0.08, and being the driver of a vehicle involved in an incident where property was damaged and failing to stop as required to do so.

The incident occurred on November 30 last year.

Hewitt’s blood alcohol level was 0.124 and he was fined $650 for that offense.

The owner of the property shouted at him to stop but Hewitt drove off.

The lawyer representing Hewitt said there was music playing in the car and his client didn’t hear the shouting otherwise he would have stopped.

Hewitt was also fined $500 for failing to stop, and ordered to pay $205 in court costs.
