Fremantle man on drug, gun charges after incident in Yangebup

A FREMANTLE man has been charged with a series of drug and firearm offences after his vehicle was stopped by police on Tuesday evening.

The 31-year-old man was spotted by police about 5.10pm, allegedly driving his Ford Falcon sedan erratically on Pioneer Road in Yangebup.

The driver allegedly failed to stop when requested and tried to evade police before abandoning his car.

He was arrested a short time later and found to be in possession of a homemade firearm, ammunition, methylamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The man has been charged with possession of a firearm, unlicensed possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited drug and drug paraphernalia.

He has also been charged with reckless driving, having no authority to drive and failing to comply with a request to give personal details.

He is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on May 20.
