Fremantle: man sent to prison for 11 months for pay pass fraud

A MAN has been sentenced to 11 months in prison for various pay pass frauds.

Jerome Tannerpleaded guilty in the Fremantle Magistrates Court today to more than 20 charges relating to stealing and gaining benefit by fraud.

Beginning in September 2017 until July this year, Tanner used various stolen debit cards to complete pay pass transactions.

Tanner completed transactions at IGA Applecross, Rebel Sports, BWS, Woolworths and in taxis.

He also spent $40 on a fishing rod from BCF.

One card he obtained between 11.53pm on September 29 until 2am on September 30, after he stole a mobile phone and found an ANZ visa card.

“This crime is a serious problem,” Magistrate Peter Malone said.

Tanner, who is currently in custody, will serve an 11-month prison sentence and faces $1300 in fines.
