THERE is no stopping Fremantle’s David James when it comes to using his bike to help those who need it the most.

The keen cyclist will jump on his bike for the sixth time in the 2017 Ride for Youth, one of more than 100 who will push themselves over the 4½-day fundraiser for Youth Focus and its work helping young people living with mental health issues.

Having won the Strongman jersey and the King of the Mountain jersey in past rides for his commitment to the cause, Mr James said he could not wait to go around again.

“A lot of friends and family ask why I keep doing it,” he said.

“On the one hand there is the personal benefit of keeping fit doing the training, maintaining a network of close friends with a great bunch of like-minded riders and of course getting to spend one of the best weeks of the year riding your bike.

“But the overwhelming reason is a sense of continued desire to support Youth Focus’s efforts helping the youth of WA with their mental health and raising awareness of the issues they face.”

The Ride for Youth is on from March 21 to 25.
