FREMANTLE mayor Brad Pettitt is heading to the slammer – albeit for a good cause.

Dr Pettitt will be transported back to the days of the Wild West, drawing on his job to help him play the mayor of a fictional western-themed town when the Convicts for a Cause fundraiser returns to the Fremantle Prison next month.

Event coordinator Alison Dalziel said they were “thrilled” the mayor would be joining the event, which would see participants locked up in the prison until they could post a fundraising ‘bail’.

“The theatrics of Convicts for a Cause make it such a unique, interactive charity event and we’re looking forward to seeing Brad’s acting talents unfold alongside actors from acclaimed WA-based theatre group Ellandar Productions,” she said.
