Fremantle MLA McGurk supports heritage listing of war graves

Leonard Henry Trent is one veteran who will be honoured for his service with the listing.

Mr Trent was a group captain in the Royal New Zealand Air Force who participated in the “Great Escape” in March 1944 before being recaptured and living out the war in a POW camp.

Mr Trent’s ashes are interred at Fremantle Cemetery.

“I believe this initiative will have a lot of public support, especially coming up to the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I next year,” Ms McGurk said.

The project will be finalised before the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI in 2018.
