THE Fremantle Navy Club will hold the first of many fundraisers in a bid to secure a the future for the club.
On May 11 the club had an annual general meeting to discuss the future of club, with the options given including relocating, amalgamating or merging with a similar not for profit club or wind up Navy Club it it’s entirety.
Club manager Sharon Pratt said there was a good member turnout for the meeting.
“All three options were unanimously declined and members decided as business as usual,” she said.
“The members acknowledged the financial situation and offered substantial assistance in the accounting areas to try and determine our future.
“The members were encouraged by that and decided to help the club in any way they can, that is going to be kicked off with the fundraiser.”
The fundraiser will feature Deborah Conway and other local Fremantle musicians.
Ms Pratt said there would be food and a raffle at the event.
“We will be doing everything we can to raise as much money for the club,” she said.
“The Navy Club has been around since 1947, we’ve been in our current premise since 1992, we are big part of Fremantle and supporting the local community.
“It would be nice to think the Freo community and the wider metropolitan area would support the club.”
She said to members of the community if they want to help out to become a member or make a donation to the club.
