“Last year we raised just over $14,000,” he said.

“To raise $20,000 would be fantastic, the demand for St Pat’s service are continuing to increase each year.

“The funds raised will go directly to St Pat’s range of support services.

“Our aim is to empower our clients, to support them as they rebuild their lives.

“We assist in a number of ways by providing accommodation, outreach services, health services and emergency relief including groceries and clothing.”

Sleep out Under the Stars is in its third year and includes music from the St Pat’s Starlight Hotel Choir, local junior rock stars Satarvo, kids activities and a painting class from Indigenous artists Deborah Walley.

Participant Cass Runyon, who is eight-years old, said he has participated in the event every single year.

“I am super excited, we go every year and it super fun with all the kids stuff going on,” he said.

“This year I hope to start a pillow fight.

“I think it’s important that we give money to homeless people so they can have a home.

“I’ve met a lot of homeless people and they seem really nice to me.”
