EXPLORING the hidden, unseen forces that affect change is the theme of the Undercurrent exhibition.

Curator of the show Fiona Gavino said the inaugural exhibition was held last year.

“The show has been running in another, more casual format for some years before,” she said.

“This group show is different in that artists who are selected are given the opportunity to create and show a new body of work responding to the theme instead of a singular work.

“The exhibition showcases the breadth and depth of the talent of artists with a cultural connection to the City of Fremantle.”

Fiona Gavino said she hoped the community would enjoy the work.

“I hope people enjoy the results of the artists’ investigation into the theme of undercurrent,” she said.

“Along with them hopefully taking an artwork home purchased at the show.

“This annual exhibition aims to meet the needs of the artists, giving them the opportunity to have their work seen by established curators.”

There are 26 artists in the exhibition.
