DESPITE being across the world from Syria, the staff at Moore and Moore want to make a difference in the war torn nation.

Throughout June, Moore and Moore in Fremantle will collaborate with UNICEF to raise money for the Children of Syria – Syria Crisis Appeal.

Moore and Moore events manager Reiniera de Vos van Steenwijk said when they first heard about the #CookforSyria initiative they wanted to be involved.

“We started by creating a ‘Syrian inspired dish’ to add to our cafe menu and donate $5 from each sale directly to UNICEF,” she said.

“The dish has had a really positive response from our customers.”

A new chef at the cafe, who took inspiration from her Syrian grandmother’s cooking, introduced the dish.

Miss de Vos van Steenwijk said this was Moore and Moore’s first time raising money for this issue.

“It certainly won’t be our last time,” she said.

“We would ideally love to donate $10,000 to the Syrian Crisis Appeal.”

The staff at Moore and Moore will also host a charity dinner with all proceeds going to UNICEF.

There will be Winter Souq Market, silent auction and the food will be Syrian-inspired.
