FROM touring the United States with San Cisco to winning major WA music awards, it has been a busy few months for Fremantle rocker Carla Geneve.
While June included taking out the West Australian Music (WAM) Song of the Year in June for her track Greg’s Discount Chemist in June and travelling with the fellow Fremantle musicians, July also promises to be a fun month.
Albany-born Geneve (20) will headline the Future Treasures event at Freo.Social on July 17, which is a part of the Fremantle Festival: 10 Nights in Port extravaganza.

The all-ages gig is about celebrating the next wave of Fremantle bands.
“I haven’t played many all-ages gigs but it’s something I’d like to do more of,” she said.
“As a young person it can be hard to see bands if they are playing in pubs.
“The show is a chance for me to meet the other talented, young bands and there will be a variety of artists playing the show so I’m excited.
Geneve said the WAM award was a big honour because of the other artists who had won it previously.
City of Fremantle arts and culture manager Kathryn Taylor said the festival, which begins on July 12 had shifted to winter in response to a change in Perth’s festival landscape.
“Summer has become busy so we thought with our architecture and old buildings, it’s important to get cosy in winter,” she said.
“The idea was to bring people in during a traditionally quiet time.
“Fremantle is a dynamic hub for arts and culture and we will have events for everyone.”
The festival continues until July 21 with a range of music, theatre, visual arts, film and other events.
