Funds to protect Anchorage

Technical support will also be provided to Councillors Carol Reeve-Fowkes and Bart Houwen, who are CSMC committee members.

Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said it was vital Owen Anchorage received adequate protection.

‘The funding support will enable the continuation of water quality testing in Owen Anchorage and thus maintain monitoring that has been conducted over several years,’ he said.

CSMC chair, Professor Kateryna Longley, said the funding would allow the CSMC to understand and manage any impacts on the marine environment.

‘Maintaining continuity of our annual water quality monitoring is an important first step towards protecting the environmental health of this beautiful and productive stretch of water,’ she said.
