The league, which trains in O’Connor, will hold its Lets Get Down to Quizness fundraiser at Fremantle Town Hall on November 15 and will be skating as part of the Fremantle Festival’s Street Parade on November 10 as a group of mythical sea creatures on skates.

WA Roller Derby vice president Rebecca Meakin AKA Ophelia Terror, said being a volunteer-run sport, the team needed to fundraising events like the quiz night to fund interstate bouts.

‘We’re a bunch of nerds with word geeks, trivia geeks, IT geeks, geeks of all stripes and we love Fremantle Town Hall because we can have roller waitresses,’ she said.

‘Being in WA we need to travel a fair bit to play different teams over east and we have a game in Canberra coming up and we’re hoping to go to Adelaide to compete in the Great Southern Slam, Australia’s national tournament.
