“Last year we had 13 competitors, this year, we hope to see more entries in more categories so that we can give more money to Fremantle Men’s Shed,” she said.

Ms McDowell said last year there were some great beards.

“There were some great, long full beards last year, even one with a little pink bow, plus some great classic handlebar moustaches,” she said.

“The best entrants were those that went all out to style their outfit to match their facial hair.”

Member of the Beard Society Tyron Fitzpatrick who is also competing in the full beard category said it was great to support a local cause.

“The best tip is to used good quality combs, wood combs not plastic bristle ones,” he said.

Fremantle Men’s Shed president Bill Johnstone said he was thrilled that the competition wants to sponsor the shed.

“With these funds we can put it towards programs, we have the mantra to add to the community to give people a safe and comfortable place,” he said.

Live music will also be playing after the competition, to enter head here
