The $1,356,392 grant will allow SLSWA to build a new helicopter facility, an upgrade from sea containers and demountable offices being used at the moment.
Mr Barnett said the new facility would provide both an improved long-term shelter for the helicopter but also a new communications tower and operating base for SurfCom, SLSWA’s communications and emergency response hub.
‘Both SurfCom and Surf Life Saving WA’s Aviation Services play a vital role in managing coastal safety in Western Australia and are an integral part of the State’s emergency management strategy,’ he said.
