The projection is one of many ways the city aims to honour the local fallen, including local students laying 849 crosses on Rememberance Day.

There will also be an unveiling of 12 bronze plaques with their names which will be permanently added to the Fremantle War memorial at the Anzac Day service in 2015.

Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said it was fitting one of the city’s most iconic buildings would be the backdrop for this event.

‘Many of these men would have walked past the town hall before embarking on the troop ships, so potentially it may have been one of the last buildings they saw on Australian soil,’ he said. The projection will run from 7pm to 10pm on November 8 and 9 at the Fremantle Town Hall.
