A HAMILTON Hill man is part of the push to see animals currently unclaimed from pounds and shelters find loving homes.
More than 230,000 cats and dogs across Australia are homeless.
PetRescue co-founder and Cockburn local John Bishop said adopting a mature pet had its benefits. For example they would already have been health-checked and assessed for behaviour, basic manners and toilet training.

“When you buy a baby pet, you can never be sure what type of adult pet you’re going to end up with.
“You might find yourself with a dog who wants to play all the time, or a complete couch potato.
“When you adopt a rescue pet, you already know what the pet’s personality is like and whether it fits your idea of the ideal companion.”
PetRescue has joined with PETstock Jandakot to promote National Pet Adoption Day on February 5.
A number of rescue pet organisations will visit the Karel Avenue store between 10am and 2pm as part of the event.
