Hamilton Hill Salvo’s hosting weekend events to help make a difference for less fortunate

Bryce LuffFremantle Gazette

WITH winter just days away the last place you would want to spend a night is outside.

But for many, an evening without the security and warmth of a home is reality.

The Salvation Army provides a range of services to the vulnerable, including the homeless, and winter is a particularly difficult time.

The Salvation Army’s annual drive, the Red Shield Doorknock Appeal, will be held on May 28 and 29.

Its goal is to gather donations to put towards helping those less fortunate.

However, the Hamilton Hill branch has a few other things planned too, according to Lieutenant Ronald Stobie.

The first is a community sleep out tomorrow night from 5.30pm.

“We are inviting the community to come and brave a night out in the cold and make a donation to the Red Shield Appeal,” Mr Stobie said.

The second event is a family fun day and market, to be held between 9am and 2pm on Sunday.

All funds will go to the Red Shield Appeal.

Both of these events will be taking place at the local Salvation Army branch at 30 Erpingham Road in Hamilton Hill.
