The centre is appealing for donations of sunscreen, caps, thongs and towels that can be distributed to those who need it most.
St Patrick’s chief executive Steve McDermott said the hot weather was hard enough to deal with when you had air-conditioning; it was twice as tough having to cope when on the streets most of the day and night.
“We get pretty worried about our clients during this time of year because of the heat-related health issues,” he said.
“Many of the people we see live on the streets which means they’re at greater risk of sunstroke, dehydration and potentially skin cancer.”
