THE days of sandpits and swing sets forming the basis of community playgrounds look numbered.

Developer Stockland has upped the game considerably with its latest effort at Calleya in Banjup, investing $1.8 million in its new adventure park on Wattletree Avenue.

The 1.3ha park features in-ground trampolines, a multi-use sports court, sheltered barbecue areas and picnic zones.

It also has a 6m sky cabin and an eye-catching slide, which were both sourced from Germany.

The park will be officially opened with a family fun day this Saturday, between noon and 3pm, with live music, face painting and other attractions helping launch the facility.

Over the next few years Calleya will grow to have 1800 homes.

Stockland’s regional manager Damian Shephard said he believed the park would become a popular meeting place for residents living at the estate.
