Heritage just rotting away

Ms McGurk reiterated the City’s and the community’s grievances on May 23, saying that since residents were evicted from the Department-of-Housing-owned cottages in 2011, the buildings had fallen into further disrepair.

She said the heritage cottages should be a heritage icon and had instead become an eyesore.

Ms McGurk she had raised issue in Parliament to see what Housing Minister Bill Marmion had to say about their future. ‘The Barnett Government evicted people from the cottages with no plan for its restoration,’ she said.
