IT was an improbable romance full of false starts for Fremantle local musicians Lee Sappho and Wayne Green.

The two will bring their bands together and perform at Because The Night Belongs To Lovers, part of the Hidden Treasures music festival on Thursday night.

Blues musician Sappho said she had performed at Hidden Treasures before but it was before she knew Wayne.

“We have been together for just over two years but it was a very long romance,” she said.

“We had heard of each other before, but we had never met, we had common friends, it was quite bizarre.”

Rocker Green said the first time he met Lee was when she at a bar where she was singing.

“I didn’t know who she was and she was on her own and I could see her tattoos and all, and I just fell in love,” he said.

“I got Lee’s number after a gig and the number was wrong, so I had been sending all these messages to the wrong person.”
