Hilton Supa IGA manager wins national Rising Star award

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

IT is not every day that the person running the local supermarket can count themselves as one of the best store managers in the country, but it is definitely true at Hilton Supa IGA.

Rachael Kolbrink, who has been working at Hilton Supa IGA for more than 10 years, took out the Rising Star award at the recent 2017 IGA Awards of Excellence after she was nominated for the hard work and great service that made her a favourite among the local shoppers.

Despite winning the state equivalent that allowed her to be considered for the national title, Ms Kolbrink said she was so sure she wasn’t going to win she didn’t even go to the awards night, which was held on the Gold Coast.

“I didn’t think I would win. I had just returned from annual leave so I just thought ‘I’m not going to win and it’s bad timing’ so I didn’t go,” she said.

“I was ecstatic to win; my boss threw me a party on the weekend and they re-presented my award – it was so good.

“I love it here. I love Hilton, I love our shop, I love our customers and I dig my job, I dig it every day.”
